TV broadcasting may be disrupted for 8 days

Desk Report:

Bangladesh Satellite Communication Limited (BSCL) has said that there may be temporary disruption in satellite broadcasting operations due to solar disturbance. This disruption may occur for some time around 9:30 am every day from September 29 to October 6.

A solar disturbance or sun outage is a common cosmic event, where the sun comes in a straight line between the Earth and a geostationary satellite. As a result, there is a temporary disruption in satellite signals. At this time, the radiation from the sun damages the satellite antenna and the earth station (geostation). As a result, jitter or discontinuity is seen in TV or other satellite-based broadcasting.

BSCL said in a statement today, Wednesday, that due to this cosmic event, satellite broadcasting operations may be disrupted for some time every day from September 29, 2025 to October 6, 2025.

The notification further said that due to solar disturbance, this disruption may occur for some time every day. Its possible schedule is, September 29 from 9:35 am to 9:38 am, September 30 from 9:32 am to 9:41 am, October 1 from 9:30 am to 9:42 am, October 2 from 9:29 am to 9:42 am, October 3 from 9:29 am to 9:42 am, October 4 from 9:29 am to 9:41 am and October 5 from 9:29 am to 9:40 am, October 6 from 9:30 am to 9:38 am.

It is to be noted that BSCL will monitor this solar disturbance carefully. BSCL currently provides broadcasting and telecommunication services to various domestic and foreign organizations through the country’s first satellite Bangladesh Satellite-1 (BS-1).
